Description: DESCRIPTION: I SELL ONLY WITHIN THE U.S. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING OFFERED. I'm offering today an adorable composition and cloth body baby doll from Effanbee, circa 1930's through 1940's era known as "Sweetie Pie. The back of the dolls neck is simply hallmarked: "Effanbee". There is no name on her, but after doing some research, I came up with the name "Sweetie Pie". She's absolutely adorable and in good condition. Composition head, arms and legs on linen body which does show her age. The arms, legs and head are fully jointed. The arms go inside the muslin body and move freely. They don't hold a pose any longer, but she can still hold her little stuffed animals or bottle by her side. The composition legs go into the body just above the knees. The legs can be posed standing or sitting. I will start at the top of her head and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description. Starting at the top of her head, she has her original curly lambs wool mohair wig. It's not as thick as it used to be, but still in nice condition. The composition is very nice on this doll with minimal crazing and cracks. We must remember, this doll was made in the 1930's through 1940's era, so she's almost 100 years old, therefore, she's not going to be perfect. I'll let her mommy decide how perfect she is. She is wearing an adorable head band which I custom made for her, which matches her precious baby blue dress which I designed and created for her to go home to her new mommy. I cut and measured baby blue stretch elastic to fit the dolls head perfectly. I then made a baby blue satin bow which I hand sewed to the top of the elastic hair band. By making my own hair bows, they are actually made to fit this doll and only this doll. By making the elastic tight enough, the hair bows remain high up on the head and look ever so sweet. She has adorable blue eyes which open and close freely. Her eyes are "flirty" eyes, which will move from side to side. She has her original brown eyelashes. She has a dainty little nose with open nostrils for realism which flows down to her rose bud shape lips. Her lips are painted a dark pink color and do have some paint loss. Her chubby baby cheeks have beautiful pink coloring. Her body of linen has turned a dark color from years of being loved or stored and forgotten about. The cry box obviously no longer works. The doll has no odors and I try very hard to keep a clean, tidy home. As most of you who follow me know, I pick their outfits based upon the way their faces look and what they speak to my heart. With this precious face and dark auburn hair, I knew she had to be in blue to match her floating blue eyes. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, so I decided to custom make her a dress. I chose baby blue cotton fabric which I made a dress with matching pantaloons. The dress has a high waist with two buttons in the back for keeping the dolls dress securely in place. The dress has long sleeves which come down to her wrists allowing those sweet little fingers to show. I made her a removable collar which is trimmed with delicate white scalloped lace. There is a snap on the back of the collar so if you decide you don't want it on her, you can remove it. On the skirt of the dress, I made a blue ruffle out of the same fabric as the dress and made another ruffle of white lace. I sewed the two to the bottom of the hemline on the dress and topped it off with white lace. Her bloomers are made of the same blue cotton fabric and come down to her ankles. She is wearing white cotton crochet booties which I had made for her. The booties have pink satin rosettes on top. There is pink satin ribbon running through the booties and tied into a large bow. My dolls are not played with by children who come and visit; I know that sounds mean, but sometimes they play too rough. My dolls are kept in a doll room specifically for them and are displayed for everyone to enjoy. All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children. Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, or I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll. We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor. My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new. Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes. If I've missed something it would never be intentional. SIZE: This is a nice size antique composition "Sweetie Pie" baby doll measuring approximately 18". CONDITION: This is an old doll and will not be perfect. It is my opinion after many years of collecting dolls, she's in good condition. Her body does show it's age with darkening of the linen fabric. The cry box no longer works. It remains free of odors. Her eyes open and close freely. She has flirty eyes, which move from side to side. She has very little damage to the composition, but if you look very close, I'm sure she has some crazing and perhaps tiny cracks here and there. I don't find anything serious to disclose. She is wearing her original lambs wool mohair wig and I'm sure it used to be thicker than it is now. Her dress and pantaloons were custom designed by me and has been laundered and ironed prior to listing her. Her booties are custom made and fit her perfectly. There is very little paint loss to the composition on this doll. Please view complete set of photos for thorough description. I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls. God bless you. Connie
