Description: This is an auction for an original rare silver gelatin photograph of the founders of the Monterey County Swiss Rifle Club of California, circa 1905. This contact print photo features four of the founding members, whose names could be either ELVEZIO JACOB, ARTHUR MARTELLA, VITTORIO RIANDA, PETE TAGLIO, MARK GNOSCA, G.P. CODONI, BERNARDO BRESCHINI, ALBERT FROLLI, EMILIO SGHEIZA, PETER BONTADELLI, STEVE BRESHINI or JOHN BRESHINI. Since three of the founders were Breshini, maybe the 3 brothers are in this photo? More about this gun club can be found in the Lorio Verasconi's book on the Swiss Rifle Club. The first range was set up at Batista Marci dairy in Salinas. I made the connection to this Rifle Club from some of the decorative motifs on their clothing. This 10x13 inch photo comes with the original oak frame 17.5 x 20.5 inches, glass (cracked) and backing. The newspapers on the back show that it was framed in 1926. The photo is in excellent condition, no fading, no tears or foxing, etc. The decorative matting is done by hand in pencil. Email with any questions or answers.
