The Dowry rug is part of a time honored Turkish and Kurdish tradition in which a future bride is given a wedding gift (dowry) before marriage. This Dowry rug features a lovely ochre colored center medallion surrounded beautiful colors of navy and coral. This rug would be the perfect compliment to many décor styles ranging from traditional to the modern bohemian. This rug features an extremely dense, tightly woven wool pile that is great for high traffic areas. Natural dyes and colors include: navy, coral, ochre, ivory, and more. This hand made rug is made of non-shedding hand spun wool making it easy to clean, and making it incredibly soft to walk and lounge on. This densely woven wool rug contains natural oils called lanolin that naturally resist dirt and grime, therefore allowing it to look cleaner for much longer than synthetic rugs. Regular vacuuming will remove any dirt and grime, and allow you to enjoy your rug for many decades.
