Currently, they are created with fabric and tacks; the fabric or paper covering the hinged area has fallen away. The right side tray cover is hanging on by less than 1”. Unless the trunk is to have a lot of use, I would leave it as it is. The original interior paper covering is 75% present; it exhibits foxing. The clasp/lock is not functional; it has missing components. This is a great estate find in much better condition than many.
