Description: This antique ring features a classical image of a pipe-playing, dancing faun (Pan) mounted within a bezel. The faun is carved into a hardstone material; there are not the textures and striations of shell cameos. There are no markings but the ring tests as at least 14 karat gold. The ring measures 5/8" long x 1/2" wide in front. Weight is 5.7 grams. Size is 6 per my mandrel. It may be sizeable to some extent by a skilled jeweler; let me know if I can provide more information on sizing The ring is in good vintage condition without damage to the faun but minor loss of the border edge as seem in photos. Mounting is in very good condition with minimal wear. The faun is nicely modeled playing music with a pipe while in mid-jig. A charming piece with an unusual subject. Take a look at my other Victorian jewelry from a longtime collection.
