Titled, Numbered and Signed in Pencil: "Between The Lines", 58/100, Anne Youkeles, PHOTOGRAPHS DO NOT DO JUSTICE TO GREAT DETAIL Anne Youkeles was born in Austria in 1920. She studied at the Kunstgewerbe Schule, Vienna and, after emigrating to the United States, at Ohio State University. Her work in the 1950s and early-1960s was principally figurative, but in the late-1960s she turned to abstraction and in particular the creation of three-dimensional works using paper and canvas. Anne says of her work: My prints, paintings, and paper works have always incorporated elements of sculpture through the use of folded canvas and paper as well as hand cast paper shapes in order to further my goal.
