She had a long career starring and co-starring in films, playing Polly Benedict during the 1930s and 1940s in the Andy Hardy series, and as one of Scarlett O'Hara's sisters in the film GONE WITH THE WIND (1939). At the height of her acting career, Ann Rutherford had every teenage boy in America wishing she were his girlfriend. Her portrayal of Polly Benedict, the charming and loyal girlfriend to Mickey Rooney’s exuberant and love struck Andy Hardyin films such as "You’re Only Young Once" (1937) and "Love Finds Andy Hardy" (1938), cemented Rutherford’s statusas an all-American. This unique and original unpublished photo was taken by a fan at the MGM Studios lot, showing Ann Rutherford visiting at the same time period of theMovie : Operation Haylift in (1950). Her hair style and looks does confirm the time frame. We have obtained different unpublished photos from that same fan.
