Description: Presented for your consideration, a retro-licious Vintage Anchor Hocking Fire King Red Polka Dot Mixing Bowl Small. Anchor Hocking Fire King Founded in 1905 as the Hocking Glass Company in Lancaster, Ohio along the Hocking River for which it’s named. In 1937 the firm merged with Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation of Long Island City, New York. A brand under the Anchor Hocking company, Fire King is similar to Pyrex and was produced from 1940’s through 1976. A utilitarian ware, it was meant for everyday use. Included in sacks of flour or given away at service stations as promotions, Fire King was also sold at both grocery and hardware stores as well. Bowls, casseroles, cups, plates, serving platters, creamers, and vases were produced but mixing bowl sets are still among the most eagerly coveted and collected. Listing Description This size is the smallest in the original nest of four. Perfect as a mixing bowl to prepare sauces or dressings or a small serving piece as well. The base colour of ovenproof white borosilicate glass is accented with a charming allover bright red polka dot motif. The colour on this piece is well preserved and vivid with minimal loss. Do not place vintage Fire King pieces with fired-on colours in the dishwasher for they are highly susceptible to damage if exposed to harsh detergents. Best to hand-wash these vintage pieces to prevent loss of colour — avoid any scouring powders or pads as well. Moulded with ‘Fire King OVEN WARE’ at the bottom. A vintage piece yet in good condition, no chips, cracks nor repairs. Expect slight wear commensurate with age and usage. Approximate measurements; 4” in height x 5 1/2” top diameter x 2 7/8” bottom diameter. Smoke and pet-free home. Will of course, be carefully parceled to ensure safe arrival to its destination.
