Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Urban Westenberger the creator of the Mysterious "Westenberger Mausoleum" did he really put his parents in glass coffins for all to see decades after they were buried originally? Was he really an eccentric drunken man with part mad as some said? No he was not. Join me as I lay out the life of Urban Westenberger a German Immigrant, particularly his time living in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley along the river. The Shenandoah's River's South Fork is shrouded in mystery, murder, intrigue, folklore, and even paranormal events. This is where Urban chooses to build a home for not only himself, but his brothers and sister back in Germany. I began documenting Urban Westenberger, a couple of months after my oldest daughter and I visited the infamous Westenberger Mausoleum in January of 2023. The Mausoleum is on the west side of the Shenandoah rivers south fork, across from Rileyville Virginia. It is located not far off of the road in a patch of woods, within the small community called Page Valley Estates. Heather had read about it online while visiting us from South Carolina. We had lived in the area for eight years and I had never heard of it, or any of the other stories from along the Shenandoah River. I was intrigued to say the least. After reading several accounts, none of which were from that time period, it just didn’t add up. Why I was so drawn to this man’s story I cannot say, but I couldn’t let it go. Down the rabbit hole I went, and just like Alices trip to wonderland, my journey became curiouser and curiouser.
