Description: American Glass 1760-1930 by Kenneth M. Wilson. Published by Hudson Hills Press New York, in association with The Toledo Museum of Art, 1994. First edition. Two hardcover volumes covered in dark blue cloth with silver gilt lettering on fronts and spines, enclosed in an identically colored slipcase with a color photograph on the front. 880 pages with more than a thousand photographs. From the Toledo Museum of Art: "This catalog publishes the Toledo Museum of Art's renowned collection of American glass, including examples of preblown three-mold glass, blown three-mold glass, lacy pressed glass, an unusually complete sequence representing the union of blown and pressed glass, and rich cut glass. The catalog includes 1,411 objects and a brief history of the American glass industry. Special appendices on the New England Glass Company/Libbey Glass Company and on Libbey trademarks. 174 color and 1,775 b/w illustrations, printed on low-acid permanent paper...Kenneth M. Wilson (1922-2005) was the director of collections at Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Michigan." The books themselves appear to be near-perfect; the only flaw found is a slight bit of wear to gilt at bottom of spine of volume 1. The slipcase has one tiny (1/4 inch) faint white line on the rear board near the opening edge. A gorgeous set; gift quality.
