Description: I am the person that is rebuilding the AMX and Javelin door hinges. All parts are custom made in my shop according to my specs. This is the best rebuild you will find anywhere in the USA. Upper and lower hinges have new bronze bushings and new custom made pins. Each upper hinge has a new custom spring and a new custom detent roller with knurled pin. Any questions, just ask. 1968-74 AMX and Javelin Door Hinge Rebuild. The pictures are examples of a rebuilt hinge set which includes the 69-74 lower door hinge style. No core is required to send back to me. You can give tyour used hinges to somebody else, put them on Ebay or keep as a parts spare. Unlike the other AMC vendors, my parts are top quality. The detent arms and rollers that the vendors sell are not heat treated (hardened steel) and will lead to premature wear. The pins that others sell are sloppy when installed. To make things even worse, some of the bushings others sell are made out of cheaper/softer brass. Brass is not going to hold up for very long. One AMC vendor is actually selling bronze bushings, but the pins that goes with them are too small to fit correctly. A door hinge is not something you want to replace more than once, as the dash has to be taken apart to get to the hinge. The rebuilt hinges include the following: - Each hinge has a custom made pin that is properly sized for the bushing - Bronze bushings (not the cheaper and softer brass) - Very close tolerances between the pin and bronze bushings (no wiggle in the hinge). - Each hinges is taken apart and then media blasted. - Hinges with broken, worn or missing rollers/pins are replaced - New custom made springs are installed on each upper hinge. - Each mounting hole is checked for good threads - Each hinges is oiled and then sealed in a plastic bag to help reduce any flash rusting. - Oil will need to be removed before you paint the hinge. Brake cleaner works good to remove oil or use another paint prep solvent.
