Description: This historical document is a title for lots 19 and 20, block 91 of Colorado Coal & Iron Company’s addition No. 1. The title search was conducted by Lawyers Title of Pueblo, 519 North Santa Fe, Pueblo, Colorado and completed in 1969. The lots comprise part of an area once called South Pueblo which is now part of Pueblo City proper. The title for the property begins with the Nolan Land Grant confirmed by Congress in 1870. The property was sold by the heirs of Gervacio Nolan who sold two thirds to Annie Blake. Next it went to The Colorado Improvement Co and eventually became the ownership of Colorado Fuel & Iron Company. It then went to The Colorado Coal and Iron Company which divided the property into lots for housing workers and management. Multiple owners were involved including John D. Rockefeller and his son, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. The document is 53 legal-sized pages long. The first two pages have edge wear affecting only margins o/w no tears on following pages. Clean. The title for this part of Pueblo is a passage through time and recount of historical significance. The information can be applied to many properties in block 91 which originated from the Nolan Property Transfer and also sheds light on how industry, especially The Coal and Iron Company, contributed to shaping Pueblo City.
