Description: These 8 French Cavalry made by Hat Industries, are from the Napoleonic Wars, early 1800's, but work very well as Mexican cavalry in the 1830's against Texians. These medium-blue troopers represent your typical French cavalry from the late 1700's through the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. Each cavalryman has a drawn saber and a scabbard on their sides. They're all wearing helmets with long horse-hair plumes that flow down their necks. They do not have metal breast plates on their chests. Each cavalryman has his own brown horse on base. If you wish to tighten up the figure to the horse (a problem with all toy soldier sets), put the soldiers in near-boiling water for a few seconds, take them out and handle with your bare hands, then put them on the saddle of the horse, bending down the legs for a tight fit around the horse's waist, then take the rider off and set in cold water while holding the legs of the rider in the position you've decided on. The soldiers legs will immediately "fix" in the cold water to where you'll never have riders falling off again. You'll really like these horses; much better design than most toy soldier sets.
