Description: 800x600 Up for sale is this Connellsville, Pennsylvania, Charter #6452, $10.00 1902 Plain Back. Fr. #624, with treasury signatures of Judson W. Lyons as Register of the Treasury and Ellis H. Roberts as Treasurer of The United States. This note exhibits legible stamped bank signatures of James L. Kurtz as Cashier of the bank, and F.E. Markell as Bank President. “The Citizens National Bank of Connellsville, Pennsylvania” was organized on October 7, 1902. The bank issued a total of $1,819,780.00 in National Currency from 1902 until July 31, 1930 when the Bank failed because of the Depression. The total issue of Large Size notes was 137,936 banknotes. Connellsville, Pennsylvania had 7 National Banks that issued, National Currency. Six of those National Banks issued large size National Currency, of those six banks three banks were rarer, with the other three being about equal. The note has an uneven top margin where it is cut slightly into the design at the right. The bottom margin is also cut unevenly, as the bankers cut these notes from the sheets with scissors, but in this case all of the design framework is still there. There is a 1/32 of an inch divot in the top margin above the “t’ in National Currency. I do not see any rips, tears, splits or pinholes, but the note does have light soil from years of circulation, more so on the obverse than it does on the reverse of the note. I grade this note as a Very Fine, but you look at the scans and judge the grade for yourself before bidding. The Kelly Census shows 13 large size notes reported on this bank. There are 1 - $20.00 1902 Red Seal, 1 - $10.00 1902 Date Back, 1 - $20.00 1902 Date Back, 5 - $10.00 1902 Plain Backs and 5 - $20.00 1902 Plain Backs reported. This note is new to the census, the new owner can report this note, if they so choose. This note would make a fine addition to any Pennsylvania National Banknote collection! This bank is located in Fayette County, so it should appeal to people collecting National Banknotes from that and the surrounding counties. Don’t let this note get away!
