Description: 6 decks Antique Chas A Stevens Department Store Playing Cards, 1927, USPCC EUC 52/52 each deck, purple deck with a few corner creases, all decks EUC for 1927. Great reflective metallic ink on the card backs. No boxes and no jokers. Chas A. Stevens Department Store began in 1886 as Chas. A. Stevens & Bros. In Dec. 1932, Charles A. Stevens died. Beginning in 1933, the store was called Chas. A. Stevens & Co. Eventually it included a main store on State Street in Chicago plus other city and suburban stores. During the 1940s-1960s, it was a fashion leader in women's clothing in Chicago. Stevens stores were sold and eventually liquidated in 1988 (from https://researchworks.oclc.org/archivegrid/collection/data/715309577) These decks were most likely sold in Chas A Stevens in Chicago since it is the Chas A Stevens logo on the card back and the Ace of Spades. I have a different deck box that shows the connection (BOX NOT INCLUDED, ONLY FOR REFERENCE). This selection is 5 different colors of the Chas A Stevens decks with two in blue for a total of 6 decks. Quite the find to have a set like this. These don't come up for sale very often, so I assume they are scarce.
