6 Antique Nymphenburg Porcelain Jugendstil Scenic Dessert Plate Porzellan Teller

Description: For sale is a rare set of six dessert plates made by Nymphenburg in the early 20th century . The plate blank design itself is from the Pearl service with those little "pearls" along the edge - it is an old design dating back to the 18th century. The central painting on each however was done by Rudolf Sieck who was a superb painter that did these Art Nouveau scenes for them. He did some amazing work and these plates here are a great example! Each has a different scene and they are titled Rosengärtlein (little rose garden), Einsamer Weiher (lonely pond), Bodensee (Lake Constance), Chiemsee (a lake between Munich and Salzburg), Bergkapelle (mountain chapel) and last but not least Abend (evening). Each is superbly hand painted with lots of details and they definitely have that Art Nouveau / Jugendstil flair to them of this period. Each scene is surrounded by a nice gold trim. The plates are 1 inch tall and 8.5 inches in diameter. Each is well marked with the printed green shield mark with the word Nymphenburg underneath, the impressed shield mark, as well as R. B. over D. 22, RUD. SIECK and the title of the scene under that. They all also have their rare black shield mark with Royal Nymphenburg around a shield and crown with Bavaria under that. One finds that on exported pieces from time to time. Not sure when it was used but definitely in the early 20th century. The set is in superb condition without any chips, etc. but one plate has a color smear to the underside as shown. That does not affect the piece when used or on display at all.
