Orange unknown mineral midwave and longwave AND Orange “Flash phosphorescence” Wollastonite longwave This yellow wollastonite specimen is from Franklin NJ. Nice coverage on one side, with a blue-fluorescing mineral, possibly diopside (blue shortwave, Photos #1-5). The Wollastonite also glows cream color in Longwave with a quality Longwave UV flashlight (Photos # 6 Midwave and 7 Longwave) and will “Flash Phosphoresce” orange if the flashlight is held against it and is quickly swiped away (not shown). But what surprised me greatly was the unknown orange-fluorescing mineral showing in one area under a quality longwave UV flashlight (Photo # 8). Note that with a good midwave UV light, you can also see the orange (not shown). Also please note that there is no overall blue in photos #4 and 5, but rather only the specks of powder blue seen there. NOTE: Typical Blacklight UV lights will not display any color.
