Description: This is the story of the brutal murders of two women in Kent, Ohio in 1933 and 1945. Ned Kellogg, 51, an intellectually disabled factory watchman, confessed to both murders after being "grilled" by police for 12 hours in 1945. Doctors who examined him agreed that he had the mental age of a 7-year-old child. Kellogg was convicted of one of the murders, even in the absence of any hard evidence and in the face of comments by friends and work associates that he liked to tell tall tales and admit to things he never did. His confession carried the day with police, the court, and even his defense attorney. Kellogg spent the rest of his life in the Ohio State Penitentiary, dying there in 1967 at the age of 73. This hour-long documentary examines the two cases, the roles played by the police, prosecution and defense, and police attitudes toward the intellectually challenged decades ago. It looks at the question of whether Kellogg may have killed both women, one of the women, or neither of the women. The program first appeared in 2016 on Western Reserve PBS in northeast Ohio and is copyrighted. This is a brand new DVD. Please check the photograph(s); they are an important part of the description.
