Description: Brought from Japan, 4 hand carved hangi woodblocks on two blocks of tight grained cherry wood. (Front and back) They depict five flying cranes. One block is all white and is for the cranes bodies. The back side of that block is the blue sky background. The other block, front and back is for coloring the cranes wings in black and dark blue. Put them all together and you would have a woodblock picture 6 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches(That size is based on the blue sky background block.) There is no indication of age. We think they are fairly contemporary, as in mid 1900's. The blocks themselves are 13 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches wide and 5/8 inches thick. The weigh 3 pounds.
