No changes to bunks are required. These mounts are a direct replacement for your original or OEM Yanmar motor mounts. Significant improvements over the original mounts- Stainless Steel - Will not rust like original mounts when exposed to salt water!- Urethane - Will not deteriorate with exposure to diesel fuel!- Roll Over Protection -(sold separately) In the unlikely event of a vessel roll over your motor WILL NOT SEPARATE from your motor bunks. Issues with original steel and rubber mounts that will not occur with these motor mounts! 1 - Rust - When your old mounts rust the rubber will detach from the mount making a dangerous situation of excessive vibration that could cause your sail drive seals to tear. Water needs to stay on the outside of your boat! 2 - Rubber Swelling due to diesel fuel - Rubber in the original mounts will swell due to intermittent exposure to diesel fuel. Once the rubber swells it contributes to the rubber detaching from the steel. Also causing excessive vibration and potentially causing Sail Drive seals to leak water inside your vessel. 3 - Roll Over Separation Protection -(sold separately) In the unlikely event your vessel rolls over. Your motor WILL NOT separate from your bunks. All Oceanic Innovations designed motor mounts incorporate a bracket that locks the top and bottom pieces of the bracket together. The mount is designed to allow for proper absorption of the motors vibration while preventing the top and bottom of the motor mount from separating!
