Do not send us your keys.*** _____________________ The overhaul approach we take will depend on the year model, as these DENSO-made units for Lexus and Toyota experience entirely different types of failures according to the year range. The process is essentially always going to be a combination of repairs to the copper traces that make up the map of the board and replacement parts addressing whatever damage and/or conditions are present in the ECU. An early 1990s model is very likely to need repairs due to the electrolytic capacitors leaking a corrosive fluid onto the board, whereas a post 2000 ECU will suffer from the typical decay of the metals in the aging SMDs that are used in these and need replaced. Most of the time, we see these particular ECUs for shifting problems, knock sensor issues, misfires, and no start/no communication, among many other problems. There is a wide year range covered with this model vehicle, so the failures can be quite varied from one to another.
