Dimensions- Each 7'' tall ornament is presented in a signature black BOX Enrico De Carlini, who founded the company in 1947. He explained that in the early post war years in Italy and other parts of Europe there was widespread doom and gloom and a very suppressed economy. During the difficult years of rebuilding, Europeans grabbed onto anything to feel enjoyment, especially Christmas. Pre-war northern Europe celebrated with Christmas trees but Catholic-Mediterranean regions like Italy, France and Spain preferred to display the Holy Crib at Christmas time. This all changed after WW II and many Italians found themselves adopting a new tradition in the Christmas tree. This provided an opportunity for Enrico who had learned the art of glass blowing from a friend on the weekends. He started his business with his wife and two daughters, Maria Luisa and Rosa. The business is essentially in the same place it started — their home! In northern Italy, small home-based cottage industry workshops are still very common. They made very simple decorated ornaments at first and the business grew and grew. He passed on the business to his daughter Rosa and now her son, Luca, is the third-generation owner.
