2016 top of the line Stromer ST2S upgraded to the latest 4G, 17" electric bike

Description: THERE IS NOTHING LIKE AN ST2S!The bike that set a new standard for speed pedelecs, and is still a bellwether.Those that follow the E bike industry know about Ravi, who was sponsored by Lenny at Crazy Lenny's E bike Store in Madison, and in 2016, smashed the previous Guinness World Record of the most miles traveled on an E bike in a month. That was on an ST2S. Ravi worked weekends at Crazy Lenny's while working on his PhD, and after his Guinness record, Lenny offered his bike for sale. However, it was a 20" frame, so I ordered a 17" frame instead. Ravi then installed a Carbon fiber handle bar with a slight rise, an Aluminum Body Float (now KINEKT) suspension seat post, and a Topeak disc brake compatible rear rack. I passed on the Brooks saddle that Ravi also used on his bike, as the stock ST2S saddle is actually comfortable, and very stylish! This fine example is a senior one owner, that has never been dropped.Although you have to run a bike like this through its paces, the vast majority is very reasonable riding, as evident by the life-time watt usage of 13.9Wh/mile. I have never seen one this low of all ST2S's ever listed. This 2016 Stromer ST2S came with 2G communication. Later, Stromer dropped that, and offered an upgrade to 3G (at a price). A few years ago, the 3G was obsoleted, and an upgrade to 4G was offered. I had this done, as the OMNI custom features, and theft tracking, does not work with 3G anymore. With that said, I have found the OMNI App to be location sensitive, with 2G, 3G, and now 4G. It is fine in the Quad-Cities, yet spotty here in North-Western IL. Just disclosing. I had the battery rebuilt by Hi-C Battery LLC in August 2021. Due to the pandemic, the original Samsung cells were not available, so I went with their recommendation of LG, resulting in 921Wh as compared to the stock 983Wh. I was pleasantly surprised when my annual round-trip from IL Beach State Park to Highland Park IL resulted in the same range remaining. (I highly recommend them for your battery rebuilding needs.) Supernova M99 48volt Pro: Other OEM's brag about using the Supernova Pro. However, not only does 48V use ¼ the amperage of 12v, resulting in less heat loss, smaller and lighter wires, and improved response, but Stromer has the light on a propriety BUS. This adds the function of lowering the output at slow speeds, and at stops, AND, changes the focus at higher speeds! The "M99" stands for 99 mirrors, each different, and custom positioned. It also features a halo ring effect for great viability during the day, but it automatically switches to low beam at dusk. And, day or night, if you press the light button, an incredible 1,600 lumen of automotive quality LED's get drivers attention. To my knowledge, still no other E bike offers all this. Regenerative function: I have had this on other bikes, but not near as effective, and, impossible to change between 2 levels on the fly. The ST2S however, has 5 levels, and you merely press and hold the "-" button to initiate regen braking at the minimal level. Then, each push of "-" increases the regen, up to the 5th, and strongest, level. Press and hold to cancel. You can set in OMNI the attack of the regen, and I always have mine set at max. There is only one hill that requires me to also use the incredible Magura MT5 brakes, and that one is 2 miles from my house. I therefore never leave home on a full charge, as that would require a lot of brake pad use going down that hill. Obviously, the brake pads are like new, only used for emergency braking (which will blow your mind!) OMNI: Pedal Sensor, Brake Sensor, Motor Tuning, Speed, Torque, and Agility can all be user tuned, and I strongly advise spending the time to fine tune these. After negotiating a path with sharp curves and hills, you feel as if the bike knew what you wanted to do. Many times it took my breath away...I have referred to it as my Jaguar. Competition and more OMNI: Some of the big names in bikes/E bikes brag that they have the best systems, having not only a torque sensor but also cadence and speed sensors. Well, do you want to get the same assist going downhill as you would uphill? The ST2S has a 4th sensor; inclination. It further tunes the output based upon a level pavement vs a degree of uphill or downhill. Smart. I do not know if that sensor is integrated with the gyro sensor, which is used in the theft detection function.I did however have an incident to test the locking function. Forgetting my cell holder, I tried putting my cell in my pocket. Somehow this put me in theft mode, and a warning came on the display, then the back wheel locked. The harder I tried to pedal, the more the motor reversed. Got maybe 12 feet, then couldn't balance the bike any longer, and was totally out of breath. This is something that you can only accomplish with a rear direct drive hub motor, and a lot of "smarts". Bike Rack/Carrier: As with all my other E bikes, I use the Topeak rack, and move my favorite Topeak backpack/pannier bag between them. This is more versatile and will handle more weight than a fender mounted small rack. USB charger: Besides charging the Di2 electronic shifter a couple of times a year, this port will extend your cell phone while running the OMNI App and Ride GPS App. You still have charge left after a 6-hour ride. Plus, it uses a full sized USB A receptacle instead of forcing you to try to find a micro to micro cable. 245W charger: This is the 245 watt one for the USA. Some other countries get less wattage. The only issue is don't just throw it in your pannier bag...that is how the label on the back got messed up. No effect on performance, but carry a soft towel if you are going to do that! Oh, and it puts out 4.5 amps whereas others do 4.0 amps. Why am I selling? I have too many E bikes, plus, I am over 70 and health is not great. Local pickup is available, and highly recommended, in Freeport IL (Rockford IL area). The small print: I have been on eBay for close to 24 years, and experienced someone buying an expensive item without asking a single question, but then nit-picking it to death, without ever paying the required deposit. Or, winning an expensive item, only to say that they didn't bid. Then, wanting an expensive item shipped to another address, then after over a month, complaining that it was damaged and wanting compensation, only to say they wanted more after a partial refund was granted. You, too, have probably experienced such. Therefore, I'll state terms so as to save both of us time.1) Ask all questions (24 hours before the auction end) before bidding.2) Understand what you are looking at.3) Test riding when you pick it up is the best way to assure that you will be happy with it.
