Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I believe this is from the quarterfinal Davis Cup matches held in Winston Salem, NC April 11-13, 2008 between US and France. This item is a double-sided sign / poster board featuring the reigning US Davis Cup Team champs – "2007 World Champions" on one side and on the other side "Go USA". The Davis Cup is one of the most important tournaments between national teams in tennis. Each year the team has some of the best of the best playing for our country. A young Andy Roddick is pictured on one end who was ranked in the top 10 players in the world that year and had been since 2002. He helped the US win the cup in 2007. The poster has grab handles so you can hold it up during a match to show your support for the team. It is made from a thick paper stock - not regular poster paper. I'm guessing it was meant to be easily held / carried with handles. The poster measures approx. 27” x 11 ¾”. It is folded and has some damage at the middle bottom. Clear tape could be used to secure the torn area. It will ship folded as it has been stored all these years. The US team defeated France in the quarterfinals but their bid to become repeat champs didn’t happen that year. They lost in the Semifinals to Spain who went on to win versus Argentina. My mom was a huge sports fan and when the Davis Cup was being played in the area, she jumped at the opportunity to attend. She wasn't a collector but an avid spectator. Pretty much any type of sport, she loved it and just wanted to be a part of the excitement / experience. As with most items she came home with, it got stuffed in a drawer or stashed away in a box without much thought to preservation. Comes from smoke-free home.
