Description: For sale is an exceptional contemporary style oil on canvas portrait painting of a dog against a colorful banded background. From a private estate in New York City: The painting features a profile portrait of a dog looking down or bowing its head. It looks to be a chocolate Lab if we had to guess. The portrait is done against a backdrop of multicolor horizontal stripes in varying thicknesses. Very reminiscent of a Navajo chiefs blanket in style. The painting is signed and dated 2004 on the bottom. We have tried deciphering the signature for hours but we cannot make it out. (See pics) The painting is done on a very high-quality stretched canvas from Tri Mar in Brooklyn and Manhattan NYC. It is also framed in an exceptionally sturdy, heavy, and high quality gallery picture frame from John Esty Framing which used to be in the West Village in NYC but is now closed. The framing job alone on this painting was very costly. This is the type of painting that you would see in a New York City Gallery with a very high price on it.
