Description: This fully polished specimen of all-natural authentic Dominican amber from the mines in the Dominican Republic contains a pair of winged termites with a beautifully preserved and rarely seen, Horseshoe crab shaped beetle and a Scolytid beetle along with a fulgoroid nymph from an ancient tropical forest. Horseshoe crab beetles are so named due to their resemblance in appearance to horseshoe crabs and are known to inhabit termite nests today. They belong to the Family Limulodidae.Geological studies have determined Dominican amber to be between 17 and 20 million years old. The piece itself weighs 3.6 grams and has approximate dimensions of 2 cm length, 1.8 cm width, and 1.2 cm height. NOTE: 2.5 cm is approximately 1 inch. Please see my feedback.
