Description: Out of a local estate estate we have this great pair of Chiura Obata Woodblock Prints “Obata’s Black Horse” & "Lively Horse". They are printed on special rice paper which is watermark "Uchida". These woodblock prints measures approximately 17“ x 21“ The writing in Japanese is translated to: “Reproduction Prohibited, Uchida edition”. These woodblock prints are each signed by the artist and stamped with the Uchida seal. I believe they most likely date somewhere between 1950’s and the late 1960s. The prints are laid down on artist board w with just a dab of glue in each corner, they are not permanently mounted to the artist board.
