Photos show the condition it was in when acquired and after returning all original materials, including re-enforcing (laid on new paper) what was left of the original fragile and cracking backing paper.As shown in the photos, there is several hand written pencil marks along with a makers stamp. Unfortunately, due to the heavy application of the dried-out glue present on the backing cardboard, the stamp suffered separation and therefore the makers information is somewhat illegible. There is however a K1 incised Mark on the bottom. After doing some research, Konigliche Porzellan Manufacktur (KPM) marks always have the three familiar letters in addition to three other symbols (not all at the same time). This piece is presumed to be a period piece by another Manufacturer but with the same exceptional quality artwork and manufacturing process.As you can see, this lovely painting on porcelain is a very close copy of the original 1782 painting by Angelica Kauffman and painted by a very talented artist probably sometime between 1870-'80. Besides typical handling and age related minor surface gilding scratches on the frames front, a chip on the bottom of the frame and two old edge chips on the backside of the porcelain (see photo #8, this item is simply gorgeous and ready to hang. This superb piece will make a great addition to any miniature painting collection, KPM collectors or a little beauty on it's own. !! READ THIS IMPORTANT NOTICE BELOW !!
