There was no watercolor found in this copy. On the artist from a Washington Post article: Swiss painter Fifo Stricker is an artist of uncommon ability and peculiar vision who could be described as a cross between John James Audubon and Salvador Dali... ...Many of the paintings in Stricker's exhibition of watercolors at Robert Brown Gallery were inspired by the birds and animals he saw on a trip to the Amazon River a few years back. The images of the parrots and macaws are meticulous, but with Stricker there is always a kicker. In one picture the tropical birds are covered with snow and have windup keys sticking out of their backs. Another winged creature has a motor-driven propeller sticking out of its posterior. That mix of precision and whimsy is typical Stricker, underscoring the beauty and fragility of the ecosystem and man's abuse of it. Stricker is also a master of incongruity. He has painted a series of tall, skinny paintings, such as "Bibliotheque (With Lightbulb)," from 1997, that depict stacks of weighty books balanced on a single round object, such as a bulb or a cherry.
