The second of three signature combinations for this now obsolete design, it is dated 1986. It was signed by the Senior Deputy Governor Gordon G. Thiessen and Governor John W. Crow. They were in office together from October 27, 1987 until January 31, 1994. In 1986 the $2.00 and $5.00 notes were the first to have "The Birds of Canada" on the reverse. This note has a Robin or in French, Merle D'Amérique, while the $5.00 note showed a Belted Kingfisher. Eventually all the denominations except the soon to be obsolete $1.00 were changed, ending with seven different birds to collect. Canada has long since dispensed with $1 & $2 bills in favor of coins, and no longer prints or circulates them. Paper Money Guaranty or “PMG” Gem Uncirculated 66 with Exceptional Paper Quality.
