Description: For your consideration is a watercolor & ink on heavy handmade paper titled “Cracked Ice” by Canadian Marion Strong. Started in 1984 and completed in 1986, this artwork has both signature and dates on verso. Subject is a n extreme close-up of ice crystals done in an abstract manner. Strong used void space to represent clear and white in the artwork, with use of light blue and a brilliant fire engine red at bottom to help diversify the work and bring a contrasting element to help the repetitive piece pop. The artwork is well executed. Artwork measures 15x20” and is organized horizontally. The artwork is in terrific shape with no conditions to note. The artwork comes unframed. This piece will be a cinch to frame given the repetitive nature of the artwork and use of minimal coloring. Black is an easy choice, but really, the opportunities are endless with this one.
