In 1966, for the Gemini 11 flight, he made 2 space walks. Gordon was the backup Command Module Pilot for Apollo 9. In 1969, he was the Pilot for Command Module Apollo 12, the second mission to have astronaut's land on the moon. Charles Conrad and Alan Bean landed on the moon; 3rd and 4th men to land on the moon respectively. Gordon remained in the Module in lunar orbit.
