Description: A classical guitar made in 1972 by Hilario Carracedo, a well-known luthier in Argentina. It is in a very good condition with only minor cosmetic blemishes which are expected on an instrument over 50 years old. There are no structural issues, the center seam that is seen on the soundboard was consolidated (with the use of hide glue) and it is solid. I enclose a few photographs illustrating the original condition and documenting some of the treatments performed. The top appears to be spruce, the sides and back Spanish walnut, the bridge is mahogany. It has a beautiful rosette and binding. The scale is 650 mm, weighs about 3.5 lb.These are some of the problems I have faced after receiving the instrument:1. very high action (over 6 mm)2. headstock and fretboard ebonized sloppily, with black paint smeared over on sides, frets, etc.3. soundboard sprayed heavily with lacquer which was cracking4. one tuner barrel broken5. bridge damaged, bone pieces on top of the tie block broken and partly missing6. nut missing and inadequate saddleThe following are the treatments and corrections I have decided to be necessary in order to make this beautiful instrument fully functional and playable again.I removed the fretboard from the neck, removed the frets, removed the black paint from the fretboard, removed the carved veneer from the headstock and removed the paint, re-ebonized it with India Ink, consolidated the seam in the middle of the soundboard, removed the lacquer from the soundboard, repaired the bridge and replaced the bone pieces on the tie block, glued and leveled a Spanish Cedar raiser on the neck and re-attached the fretboard to achieve a sufficient action, re-fretted it, made a new bone nut, new black buffalo bone saddle, applied a light French polish on the soundboard and clean up the rest of the instrument. I was also able to fix the tuners which seems to be original, as there were no other screw holes in the side of the headstock.I have enclosed photos of the current state and some stages of the treatments. It is not perfect while having light cosmetic blemishes, but it is a solid instrument with strong bass and action about 2.5/3 mm, with plenty of saddle if there is a need to go lower. It has D'Addario EJ 45 normal tension strings and will be shipped in a soft padded gig bag.
