1970’s MOVADO SOLID GOLD 14k MUSEUM ZENITH WATCH - Nathan Horwitt Design

Description: DESCRIPTION: 100% rare and original!!! Offered for sale is a vintage men's MOVADO Museum Watch, Swiss made, circa 1960's. The Museum Watch is based on a mid-20th century watch design by Nathan George Horwitt, an original example of which is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. As the story goes, Movado copied Horwitt's design, and started selling the Museum watches in the 1950s. Horwitt fought with Movado for decades over royalties for his design, and they finally reached a settlement in 1990. The earlier Museum watches, such as this one, remained true to Horwitt's design, but by the 1980s and 1990s, Movado had altered the design considerably. This watch features a solid 14K yellow gold case, a 17-jewel manual wind movement, and a black dial with a date at the 12 o’clock position. The case is in excellent condition, showing signs of occasional wear. The dial is in good original condition. The movement is in excellent running order. Overall, a very presentable watch that is ready to wear. Size: 34mm diameter (without crown) Fitted with its original signed black leather strap.
