Description: This week I'm offering a number of old non-sport cards from various vintage sets. In 1965, Topps came up with an idea for a set that turned out to be a real hit with young kids everywhere. They commissioned legendary comic artists Basil Wolverton, Wally Wood, and Norm Saunders to create monsters that were just too bizaare to describe. Then, Topps issued these images on stickers, paired with humorously mundane names. So, a monster with eyeballs growing on tentacles might be labled as "Murray." Kids loved it, and it's said that this set outsold any other non-sports set Topps ever produced. Of course, since these were stickers, they were designed to get stuck, on loose-leafs, on the backs of chairs, and so on. So they haven't survived in great numbers. Just to make things more interesting, the stickers are numbered 1 to 44, but there are actually a whopping 164 stickers in the set, as 40 of the 44 stickers were issued with four different names each. Quite a challege for any collector, but these stickers remain very, very popular. This is sticker #24, "Marty." The sticker has held up well (see scan for condition), and it has very bright colors; it's in pretty good shape for an issue that's fifty years old. By the way, I'll include a complete checklist for this set with every winning bid! This would be a terrific addition to any collection! Shipping will be combined for multiple winnings.
