Description: Very nice Western Electric blue model 500 telephone, who started its life out in 1961. Typical of these phones, many were put together with parts on hand, so in this case, the date codes will vary among its parts. The plastics have yellowed with age, but still present themselves nicely. Photographed under incandescent lighting, and the yellowing is not nearly as noticeable as it would be under fluorescent lighting, say in an office or commercial application. And the plastics are in very good condition with the exception of a tight crack in the lower left front corner (pictured). The phone works perfectly in every function, and the twin brass mechanical bells will wake the dead. The spring cord is exceptional for its age. The dial card (AXminister 2-2099) is a reproduction made on my computer. I installed a cord that's plug-n-play right out of the box. Check with your phone provider to ensure it supports rotary dialing. I just gave up my copper landlines in favor of fiber optic land lines, and my new provider still supports rotary dialing. If yours does not, you can still answer and talk on it, but may want to look into a Rotatone or Dialgizmo, available everywhere online. Thanks! -Eddie
