In Romania, the R8 was produced under license between 1968 and 1971 under the nameDacia1100. The design of the 8 resembles the Alfa Romeo type103 (1960), because Alfa Romeo and Renault maintained a commercial relationship in the 1950s and 1960s. Renault manufactured Alfa Romeo vehicles at that time and Alfa Romeo manufactured inItalythe Renault Dauphine (1959-1964), theRenault Ondine(1961-1962) and the R4 (1962-1964). The R8 (model R1130) appeared in July 1962 as the successor to the Renault Dauphine.
