Description: 1960 SCHWINN TORNADO STRAIGHTBAR MENS BICYCLE RED VINTAGE TYPHOON TANK AMERICAN Click Photos to Enlarge Description Here is an original VINTAGE (I believe made Feb 1962 The serial number is B2) men's Schwinn Typhoon double STRAIGHT BAR beach cruiser bicycle with 26" wheels. It is in the original and very appealing red colored paint with white pinstripes. If you like cool unusual vintage bikes, this may be a great bike for you. With the insanely high price of gas (and the economy being bad) now is the time to ride a cool vintage bike! *This bike has a cool mens double STRAIGHTBAR cruiser style frame and forks, original Schwinn chainguard, (has a fresh decal) Schwinn cruiser style seat, (no rear tag, fair condition) "AS" (Arnold Schwinn) seat post clamp, wide cruiser handlebars, old Schwinn hand grips, full fenders, vintage pedals, (2 slightly different styles) and more! Schwinn made TWO different style of the double straightbar bikes. One had the tubes which abruptly end by the seat post tube. This particular model has the long flowing tubes which is more desirable and you do not see often. Many people really like this particular version! This style looks really cool! *This double straight bar frame is so cool! They only made it for a couple years and people REALLY like them! They did the Typhoon, Tornado, Skipper, and American. You do not see them for sale very often! I hope you enjoy it! *A local guy in my neighborhood got this bike new. He rode it on the local "beach roads" in the 1960s and 1970s! This is a cool bike that has not been owned by collectors. He moved 20 miles away in 1980 but its cool the bike ended up here for a little while again! *The tires are 26x1 3/4". They are vintage tires and do hold air. The front is a Schwinn. The rear is a slightly newer replacement. The bike has factory painted and pinstriped Schwinn S-7 rims front and rear with Bendix rear hub. Rims would look nicer with the surface detailed/cleaned up. *The bike is an original Bendix Automatic TWO-SPEED "kickback" hub with coaster brakes. (pedal slightly backwards to stop the bike or to shift from low to high or high to low) If you have never ridden one of these, they are a blast! I highly recommend it! The 2-speed WORKS but has a little extra rotation when shifting gears. (not a big deal but I like to be honest) *DIMENSIONS The stand over height is approx 30 1/2". The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 28". The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 18 1/2". The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 22". The bike will accommodate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust. *NOTED FLAWS I got this one just like you see it! The frame and guard were painted red long ago. (you can see original red paint underneath) The chrome is shiny but is not perfect show quality. Both wheels have a slight wobble when you spin them. (most every used bike out there seems to) These don't come along often! Add a TANK and have a REALLY fantastic bike at a great price! A great bike to ride on relaxing days through the park or to the beach.
