Description: 1958 NASCAR Darlington Raceway Southern 500 Program/Lineup, Fireball Roberts Win. The condition of this program is exceptional and as nice as the day it was bought. The lineup shows wear on the right-hand side from where it wasn't completely nested. Please review the numerous photos of the program and ask any questions. The 1958 Southern 500 was held at Darlington Raceway on September 1st. The 41st race of the season would see a huge crowd of 80,000 pack the speedway and watch Eddie Pagan lead the field of 48 to green. On lap 136, the pole sitter, Eddie Pagan blew a tire and went through the guard rail. NASCAR officials were unable to make repairs and asked the drivers to stay away from the area the guardrail was missing. Within a few laps, Eddie Gray went out, followed by Jack Smith a few laps after that. Fireball Roberts didn't care about a missing guardrail and rode the high groove to a five lap victory over Buck Baker, Shorty Rollins, Speedy Thompson, and Marvin Panch. Please review the other racing items I have listed. I will combine shipping and provide a refund on shipping charges for anything over cost. Thanks!
