Description: Early Corvette Borg Warner Corvette T10 with all 3 Clamp-on Shift Levers on the Transmission, and Early Brass Side Cover. Nolan Adams book shows 2 Clamp-on shift levers, but there were originally 3. According to the person who rebuilt this trans, a 'drive line' mechanic for Knapp Chevrolet from 1958-68, early 57 Corvettes had brass side covers and 3 clamp on shift lever/shafts. He said Borg Warner came out with aluminum side covers and bolt on shift lever/shafts, to replace the early design failures of both. He said this trans must have been driven lightly, because the original cover and levers were in good shape. He said they would originally tack weld the levers to the shaft, because they would slip from hard shifting, until BW came out with bolt on replacements. He tack welded the bolts holding the trans mount to prevent attempting removal, because they were seized in the aluminum tail shaft case and removal would damage the mount. It was built to replace the wrong dated 1960 transmission in a 57 Corvette previously owned, but had to sell the car before it was installed.
