About Peerless cards:In the 1950s, bathroom scales were for the rich folks. Most people didn't have them. Most stores had a penny scale, and most of those scales were Peerless. The customer would drop a penny into the slot, step on the scale, and have one of these cards spit back at the them with their weight imprinted in the empty area in the middle of the card. This is one of several such film related sets issued by the Peerless Weighing and Vending Machine Corporation. Because of the cards practical use it's issued on a very thick board, frankly I don't know if you could bend it without breaking it. Movie actors and actresses are featured, as are a couple of television personalities and some recording stars of the period. The complete set consists of 40 cards.
