Description: [1951 Atlanta] This 50 item collection consists of 6 photographs (8 x 10)(Reeves Studio, Atlanta) and 44 zoning maps, of areas all over Fulton County from Alpharetta area down to South Fulton, including East Point, Mt. Zion Rd., West Buckhead, Vine City, Lindbergh, Brookhaven, etc etc Photos [6] are 8x10 inch black and white, they are curved but otherwise good condition. One of the photos is at a grocery store on Piedmont, exact location undetermined. Maps [44] are in the range of 20 x 18 (some bigger some smaller). They are folded up, see photos. Most of these maps are dated 1951 from the Fulton County Planning Commission. There are several maps that are from the 40s. This came from the estate of a local City planner or developer in the Druid Hills neighborhood many years ago. Photos are 8x10 black and white, they are curved but otherwise good condition. Maps are in the range of 20 x 18 (some bigger some smaller). They are folded up, see photos. Most have a small amount of coloring, and/or notes on the maps themselves. In 1951 Atlanta won the All American City Award, and began a rapid annexation of areas from Buckhead to South Atlanta. They were building neigborhoods like crazy just outside the city center, it was the Age of the Automobile, and this was the beginning of the Baby Boom in Atlanta. Included in this lot is a zoning map for the area around Candler Field, the eventual site of Hartsfield-jackson International Airport.
