1951 Scenic and Picturesque Florida Pictorial Cartoon Map George D. Way Vintage

Description: This is a vintage original 1951 edition of George D. Way’s Scenic and Picturesque Florida pictorial map. This map was issued folded and measures about 15.75” x 16.75” with information printed on the verso about the National Automobile Dealers Equipment Exhibition which was held in Miami Beach from January 7th to 10th, 1951. The back of map is printed “Tear Out this Map for Your Drive to the Convention” so this was apparently issued in a program for that 1951 trade show event. This map or one very similar to it by George D. Way first appears in a Florida travel booklet issued in 1940 and is more commonly found in that format. This map is elaborately illustrated with cartoonish icons, symbols and caricatures denoting various landmarks, tourist attractions and points of interest all around the state. The name “Geo. D Way” is printed in small letters in the lower right corner of the map. This map was folded and shows moderate handling wear including slight creasing and has a small bit of loss at one of the staple holes in the center fold line.
