Description: I have here for sale a book entitled OLD POSSUM'S BOOK OF PRACTICAL CATS by T S Eliot. It is the fifth impression published in 1948 by Faber and Faber. It is a collection of poems on different cat characters, which were the inspiration for the hugely successful musical, CATS. There are 14 colour plates mostly illustrating individual cats, but one at the beginning on the Naming of Cats and another at the end on the Addressing of Cats. Illustrations by Nicolas Bentley. Bound in light beige hardboards with a colour illustration to the front cover of the Jellicle Cats. Red title lettering to the spine. Light stain to the top of the front board. A few other smudges to the cloth. Boards firm. Clean inside. No loose or missing pages. 47 pages. 22 x 16 cm.
