By 1934 they had set up a "puppet" government and placed the former Ming Emperor, Pu-yi or K’ang Te on the throne. The "new" country was named “Manchukuo”. It only lasted until August of 1945 when the Soviets marched in and Japan was defeated at the end of World War II. This is a very nice, probably used, "One Fen" brown fiber coin, from Manchukuo. It was issued in 1945 when things were looking dim for Japan. There were two types of this coin issued. The first type was made from red fiber. Weight: 0.73 Gram, Diameter: 16.5 Millimeters, Brown Fiber (rubber with magnesite). Mintage: Unknown. "Standard Catalog of World Coins" (1901-2000) by Krause-Mishler. Y#13A.1. Face: K’ang Te • Henry Pu-yi. • Designs. Back: Empire of Manchukuo. •/• 1 •/• Year 12 (1945) • Pu-yi reigned from 1934 until 1945 when he was captured by the Soviets. The Note: A used specimen, but well struck for the issue. It has some defects but is still intact. A difficult country to find numismatic items from, and a rapidly disappearing piece of World War II history. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
