Description: 1945-1952 UCAGCO Hand Painted Blue Floral Demitasse Cup & Saucer Made In Occupied Japan Gold Trim Occupied Japan was the period after World War II when the Allies occupied and administered Japan, from 1945 to 1952: goods produced during this time. We’re stamped occupied Japan. Due to the specific and relatively brief length of time that Japan was occupied these items have become very collectible. UCAGCO means United China and Glass Company. Its offices were based in New Orleans and New York. Ucagco was primarily a distributor of dinnerware and glassware. They were the distributor of many Japanese china patterns during the early 1950s. United China & Glass Co. Inc., better known as UCAGCO, dating back to 1850. Founded by Abe Mayer and originally called Abe Mayer & Co. This teacup has a very small chip in the rim. I actually felt it before I saw it. This is shown in the last photograph, which has been magnified five times in order to demonstrate the flaw. There is signs of wear on the bottom rim of the saucer where it comes into contact with the surface. Also, the gold stamp on both pieces shows its age. The paint is in fabulous condition and the images are beautiful, and the colors are vivid the gold on the handle is intact.
