Being 90% silver, mercury dimes are amongst the most widely collected coins in the numismatic industry. Since these coins are 75+ years old, quality mercury dimes are becoming harder and harder to come by. It is history that you can hold in your hands. With that being said, don't let this opportunity pass you up! Coin Highlights: Mercury dimes contain 0.07234 troy ounce of silver The composition of all mercury dimes are 0.900 silver, 0.100 copper The diameter of all mercury dimes are 17.91 mm (0.705 in) The mass of all mercury dimes are 2.500 g Years of minting: 1916-1945 The designer of the obverse and reverse was Adolph Weinman Perfect for any collection, add this mercury dime to your cart today! Mercury Silver Dimes - Background & Design: Weinman’s design featured on the obverse a young woman wearing a cap with wings on her head. On the reverse the dime had a bundle of sticks with an axe blade all tied together with straps, making the ancient symbol of a fasces, which was surrounded by an olive branch. Mercury Dime Grading Scale & Guidelines: As understood and in relation to condition notes and guidelines, a mercury dime in "Very Fine" condition typically shows moderate to minor wear existing mainly on the highest parts of the design where a flatness is visible. The overall condition of the coin is pleasing and attractive. Obverse: Lady Liberty's hair is worn, but some details are apparent although smooth. About half of the elements in the wing show detail. The hairline on her forehead is beginning to show more clearly. Reverse: A majority of the vertical lines on the fasces are distinct and visible. Wear is evident and visible on the horizontal and diagonal bands, and details in the olive branch are visible with moderate to strong detail.
