Description: Here's a 1.25" cello button from the 1940 presidential campaign when republican nominee, Wendell Willkie, had the unenviable task of running against the very popular democrat president, Franklin Roosevelt. Since this was FDR's unprecedented third term, vendors made a huge number of pro and anti slogan pins, the number of which is unknown. The premier Willkie collector, who was named after Willkie since he was born in the same year as this election, used to cart around a mammoth binder of photo copies of his collection, especially because of these pins. Since they came in different sizes, colors, printing fonts and so forth, he had to compare what he saw to buy with what he had already so he didn't acquire duplicates. This was a SERIOUS collector. Today, a tablet can do the job of 40 pounds of paper, but you get no cardiovascular activity. However, if you start collecting these pins be forewarned: you will never be done, never have them all, and it will get addictive. This example uses a different color saying FDR's out and Willkie's in. It is nice shape but please enlarge our images and judge condition for yourself so that you can be happy with your purchase. S & H on this will be $4.50 carefully packed, first class with tracking. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential campaign material so buy with confidence.
