1940 Original Photo WW2 British Troops Landing in Namsos Norway HMT Chrobry Ship

Description: Vtg April 1940 Original Photo WW2 British Troops Landing in Namsos Norway HMT Chrobry Ship Narvik Norwegian Campaign snapshot lifeboats From a photo album. Vintage historical photos. The MS Chrobry, a Polish ocean liner, was completed in July 1939. She made only one transatlantic voyage before WW2 began. She was rebuilt in Britain as a troop transport ship. The now HMS Chrobry was used in the Norwegian Campaign in April-May 1940. On May 14 she was transporting British troops when she was attacked by German dive bombers, setting the ship on fire, exploding ammunition, and killing several army officers and men. Escorting ships rescued the survivors, including my father. The ship was not salvageable, and a British torpedo sunk it the next day. The ship was less than one year old. I am listing for sale my father's original photos pre-WW2 and WW2 from his album. He was Navigating Officer on the MS Batory and other ships of the Gdynia America Line from 1936 to 1945.
