An attempt to link the Arctic and the Antarctic by radio will be heard on a 2-way broadcast Wednesday night between Kotzebue, Alaska, within the Arctic circle, and the Byrd Expedition, near the South Pole. The difficult air maneuver will be attempted via CBS and Seattle station KOL from 6 to 6:30. The Arctic terminal of the 17,000-mile circuit will be station KILS, temporary Columbia unit in Northwestern Alaska. Robert Flagler, Seattle engineer, is to be in charge of the transmitter which has been especially set up for the experiment. KFZ, CBS station in Little America, will be the southern terminal where Charles J.V. Murphy, communications officer of Admiral Byrd's party, and other members of the expedition will respond to Flagler's greeting from the Far North. Photo measures 7.5 x 10inches.
